Cuarteto Latinoamericano, formed in 1982, is known worldwide as the leading proponent of Latin American music for string quartet. This Latin Grammy winning ensemble from Mexico consists of the three Bitrán brothers, violinists Saúl and Arón and cellist Alvaro, along with violist Javier Montiel. Their CD, "Brasileiro, works of Mignone", on the Sono Luminus label, won a Latin Grammy for Best Classical Recording in 2012.

Jose Mario Sanchez Soledad will talk about the remarkable history of President Benito Juarez, whose admirable qualities caused Tom Lea to make an exception to his rule of only painting portraits from life and never for hire. A facsimile of Tom Lea’s painting “Benito Juarez” will be exhibited from October 23 to October 31 at our gallery.

The El Paso County Attorney’s Office and shelter Villa Maria host the “From Surviving to Thriving” cycling event at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014. The event is designed to raise awareness about the post-crisis phase of survivors of domestic violence. Cyclist can choose from three courses: 20 miles, 30 miles and 50 miles. The Gallery at Susan Eisen Fine Jewelry Art Watches & Appraisals announces the first in a series of exhibitions and sale of artwork from the estate of Dr. Clarke Garnsey, entitled “UTEP’s Finest-My Art Professors 1972-1978,” opening on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:30-8:00 pm and continuing through November 19, 2014. The art represents examples of artwork produced by the talented professors who inspired Susan Eisen, owner of the gallery and jewelry store, when she was a Bachelor of Fine Arts metals student at UTEP during 1972-78. “Being able to show my gratitude to my professors whose creativity inspired me to make a career from my passion for art and jewelry is a great honor for me. They truly made a significant difference in my life and in many of my classmates,” said Susan Eisen, jewelry artist and author.

About our Support Groups: Often times, we hear caregivers say they are looking for support from people who "really understand because they've been there, too." An Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group offers just that – a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia to meet and develop a mutual support system. It's a place: Exchange practical information on caregiving problems and possible solutions, talk through challenges and ways of coping, share feelings, needs and concerns, learn about resources available in your community. All of our support groups are facilitated by trained individuals.
