A Stronger PBS for our community
KCOS and Texas Tech Public Media have announced an agreement to merge, creating a strong partnership that will allow us to streamline operations and serve you at a greater level. Through this union, we will be able to give you more of what you love: original multi-platform programs and innovative community engagement experiences that educate, inform, entertain, and empower.
Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to increase our presence in local classrooms, have access to greater funding opportunities, and collaborate on projects with the Emmy-award winning Texas Tech Public Media team. We will proudly continue to respond to community needs via projects such as Meet the Helpers, and look for ways to serve you at the highest level.
Dear KCOS Valued Members & Viewers
We have exciting news.
After receiving approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last week, KCOS 13 is officially part of the Texas Tech Public Media family.
While this is big news for us, it doesn’t mean big changes for you or our community partners. KCOS recently signed a new four-year agreement and will continue to operate out of its home at El Paso Community College (EPCC), where its talented staff will continue to produce the entertaining and educational programming that you have come to expect.
KCOS will also continue to solicit feedback from the community through our newly established El Paso Advisory Board. We will continue to support local organizations, and play an active role in community events, as we have since our founding in 1978.
Perhaps most importantly, you can continue to count on high quality programming, and you can continue to watch shows like High Q, and Big Bird as he continues to confound Oscar the Grouch.
As a member of the Texas Tech Public Media family, KCOS’ will be able to access additional resources, consolidate administrative efforts, collaborate with award-winning journalists, and focus its energies on what it does best: serving the people of El Paso. These improvements will help ensure that KCOS remains a trusted partner in the El Paso community for decades to come.

Thank you for being a loyal friend and partner of your local PBS station. Everyone at KCOS is grateful that you are with us on this journey, and we are excited to see where it takes us next.
Sincerely,
